Newbie TD4 (2005) owner. Thanks for this amazing source of shared information!! I've gone to TOPIx and got this from my VIN number:

Engine: 2.0L CR TI DIESEL DOHC 14
Drive: 4 WHL R/H FULL TIME DRIVE
Transmission: GT283 M5 - 5 SPD MANUAL TRANS

I have a couple of questions ....

1. This is the BMW engine, correct?
2. What does "R/H" refer to?
3. Can someone direct me to a link explaining the details of the "full time drive" system. I have searched, but am not really 100% sure of what I've got .... :decision:

thanks rhodie.

are all freelander 1's "4 wheel drive all the time"? is this the same as "all wheel drive"?

i thought i read somewhere that freelanders are mostly front-wheel drive, until the ird detects excessive spin on the front wheels?

excuse my ignorance......

All freelanders are 4 wheel drive but more to the front wheels until the rear needs it.
And yes all wheel drive is same as 4 wheel drive

thanks rhodie.

They are unless so numpty has taken the prop off!

is there an easy way to test that all wheels are pulling correctly? i've read stories of people disabling 4x4 or or 4x4 not working. i've looked under the vehicle and checked that both propshafts are there, but don't know what else to check. it seems to drive nicely, but i don't have anything to compare it to ...

thanks

Its a td4

and because of it being post 2003 ,would that make it a face lift model ?

and if so , wots the difference ?
