Hello all from sunny Guernsey!
Just realised I never introduced myself when I joined!
I used to be an absolute Landrover nut and about 13 years ago built myself a satin black D90 soft top with a SD33 motor, 35's and a big lift, it was awesome!
Since then I got into powerboating and now run the local powerboat club. Having bought myself a 28ft Kevlar Mannerfelt race boat I needed something short and very manoeuvrable to tow with, as our roads are tiny!
This led me to eBay where my less sensible side found a shortened, bobtailed rangie with a galvanised chassis and... 4 wheel steering. Awesome.
So now it's over here and I must say it's the best built truck I've ever seen. A true credit to the man who built it originally.
That said, I'm an engineer, so everything gets fiddled with and I have a few plans!
Tyres need to change from the current Anacondas, they're just too aggressive for what I need.
Rear steering needs refining, it's currently very clever, but a little rough in the control department.
Re-spray. It's currently layer cake yellow, but it clashes with one of my boats badly, so it's going black.
Engine conversion. Most likely to Isuzu 3.1 as I can't find another SD33 and I can't cope with the cost of feeding the V8 as it's my daily!
I'll be sure to post up some pics and progress reports, can't wait to get back into the landy scene!
Cheers, James
