Passenger door mirror will go up and down but not side to side?
The automatic reverse dipping works on drivers side but when out of reverse only goes back up partially and I have to the readjust. Are the two problems linked?

yes they are linked of course ... which model year do you have ?

did you check the wires ?
or did you expose your car to dust or sands ar a hard washing ... all can damage the mirors system

Many thanks for responce.
No not done anything yet. I will now investigate the innards of the mirrors and see what i find. Give all a good clean, check wires etc. and spray with water repellent. I assume the glass can be removed to get at motors inside?

i think they are probably not linked! the mechanism sometimes sieze, i have had it a few times, moves one way not the other. move it by hand then it may work.
as far as dipping in reverse and not returning this is worn mirror mechanisms, mine do it but i have disabled this function as i dont like it so its not a problem.

I have found the disabling routine, but I'm one of those people who can't stand something not working.
I'm going to take the mirror apart and see what can be done even if i only get the side to side working.Cheers

that's your first step ...
take care when you remove the glass ... it may fall down ... slide it slowly ...

Hi Guys, I am a new member, I have a 1999 4.6 HSE with the dreaded non returning dipping mirrors. I see here that someone mentions the disabling procedure, any chance of some instructions as I would really like to cure this problem and I don't need them to dip anyway. Thanks. Paul

Turn on the ignition (but don't start the car )
whack it into reverse gear
press and hold the drivers seat memory store until message centre beeps and displays mirror dip off
job done
