Well, had my car in the garage today. Nasty ball-bearing sound coming from both cats (rattling). Emissions tests came back with 3.6 and the limit is 0.3. Been told I need new MAF, 2 x lambda's and a cat system. Found them all on ebay, delivered, for £333, bit not sure what I will get for that......Land Rover wanted £1,800 for the cats alone! Been getting an average of 9mpg although I did manage to muster a staggering 17mpg on a 9 mile journey.

My question is, what are the chances of the ebay stuff being any good? Exhaust was £178 for a cat system in SS. MAF was £50 delivered and the lambda's were £50 each (all brand new I might add).

Thanks.

If this is a Bosch MAF I know people who have bought them for VAG cars and they haven't had any issues with them. Interested to see how you get on with the MAF as I need one for mine.

I know the lambda's on ebay are being sold as bosch, but the MAF was not branded at all, except they stated "made in our factories in the US".......

I've recently had a similar situation with our Merc SLK - dealer wanted £900 for the cat (!) and it was £180 delivered, brand new, on ebay with good feedback from a lot of people.....have ordered one.........

i bought one for my escort 1.8 ghia x.......it was £100 (Ford wanted £300). It was great for first 3 days, then clogged up and slowed the car down again. That's what I'm worried about this time around.......great price, but there's a reason......i dont know...

Yeah thats the ones I have been looking at for 50 quid posted it is worth it i think. One bit of advice I did get was to buy the complete kit rather than just the element as they do give better results.
