Hello all.... Question for yah;

4.6 head gasket... what's involved?

Is it standard heads off, skimmed, replaced with new gaskets?

If so, how much is a gasket set? and how much is a head skim x 2?

:bump2:

Island 4x4 is about £50 for a set of all the seals, gaskets, o-rings for the top end which includes Elring Head Gaskets.

Just seen that on their site... thanks.

Any idea what a head skim comes in at these days?

And just to double check... steam sauna out the exhaust and severe loss of coolant is defo head gasket right

Would it be easier to just get another engine and drop that in? Say reduction from a 4.6 to a 4 litre perhaps

OK... Apparently, its a slipped liner.... anyone???????

? is it , they can slip but after its cracked,you will have to see what the problem is ,blocks can be pressure tested in situ with heads off ,each bank separately, top hat liners are a good cure and 4 litre and 4.6 are the same block
