After replacing coolant with fresh antifreeze mix, blasted Battery light on dash, coincidence??
Stripped down to get the blasted alternator removed from the engine block, blimey why o why did bmw/LR decide on a water cooled alternator for this beast I dont know
Anyway eventually managed to get the alternator out and handed over to a very nice man who has fixed starter motors, alternators in the past for me.
I collected repaired alternator and reinstalled to find to my horror the blasted light still on the dash and the volts dropping fast from the battery and eventually the air suspension, etc starting to shut down due to lack of volts
So I stripped it back out and after chatting with repairer he tells me the diodes and regulater have blown again!!! It must be my car!!
Question is, has my beast blown the reapired alternator?
I have checked with volt meter
Battery 12.4v
Terminal @ alternator same as battery
Multi plug on alternator with ignition off zero on both
Multi plug with ignition on 10v & 11 v
So surely nothing wrong with my set up, or am I missing something...
Checked all fuses all good
Just thought ill ask if any one else has had similar issues
Plan on trying 2nd repair attempt weekend
Cheers
