Hi all,
Great site, new to the forum and Hoping someone can help.
Recently bought a 2006 RR Vouge 4.4 V8 (jag engine) that has just started squeaking at me. Only happens when cold and stops after 5 mins or so. Have tried the spray on stuff but no joy, squeak remains. It almost sounds like a bird chirping. Not very loud but very annoying.
My local LR garages said they could fix it for 500 quid but could not tell me what the probably actually was.
Any guidance would be awesome
Cheers
Glen

does sounds like a sliping belt. i had a capri years ago that did that, stoped after a few mins, oh no that was the engine that stoped not just the squeak,
anyway not knowing the jag engine i cant say for sure but i would be looking at the condition of the belt and how tight the tensioner is. then start thinking is a bearing somewhere on its way out? waterpump, alternator, cam shaft ect.. do any of the pullys rock when you give them a "rock" (engine off) in and out not in the direction of the belt

Try changing the belt? It's a bit of a job I'm guessing, I'm only clued up with the older pushrod Rover V8, and a belt/pully change on that is quite easy, but needs specialist tools to remove the cooling fan. Try finding a local Land Rover independant garage, a main dealer that says they can cure a problem for a fixed price but not tell you what's involded doesn't inspire me at all.

Hi there,
The 4.4 was the BMW engine. This squeaking noise, does it increase in proportion with engine speed? Does it increase if you turn on the A/C? How many miles has your Range done? Have you any service history that indicates any previous work on the auxiliary belt system??
