Hi all

I'm just about to order the oil for my first oil change since I have had the car, am thinking about going for the castrol edge 5w/40 as thats whats recommended by loads of sites but have read in here and other forums that people recommend the 10w/40 version. Does anybody have any advice on which to go for, and why?

Thanks

Matt

Just done mine matt an used mobil 1 0w-40. That's what RAVE states I think but for what were doing don't think a 10w-40 would be so different.

Try the National Tyres website put in your number plate and think it works out about £41 for oil and filter change using Castrol Edge (cant remember the viscosity)

I had a prob that i arrived and the muppets hadnt ordered the filter in, but if you triple check its all in before turning up, cheapest engine ful lof castrol edge you'll find anywhere mate

good luck

Hi guys, so I went for castrol edge turbo diesel 5w/10, I know it's called turbo diesel but the spec fully conforms to the spec required for the BMW M64 4.4 V8 petrol engine that's in my rangie. Has anyone else used this oil in these engines before?

I've had 8 litres of the stuff under my bonnet for 3 days now mate so cant really comment on it yet, but over on a bmw forum i use everyones raving about Castrol Edge TD oil and how great it is, seems to be the general opinion over there and most seem to have M57 or M64 engines too :)

£41 cant go wrong IMO, it'd cost £70+ for just the same oil from Halfrauds I'd imagine

Hi mate, not gone for the company to do it, im going to do it on my own, i know someone who can get all the oil i need for the change for £60, i know its more than having the company do the job, but i like to do jobs on my car my self, then i know whats been done, and to the correct procedure, plus its more experience working on the rangie.

Thanks for your advice, im doing my change tomorrow morning.
