Hello ,

I have decided to buy a new Range Rover , but still can't decide witch one to choose 4.4 TDV8 or 5.0 Supercharged V8.

On the paper the diesel engine looks very nice

Compare Range Rover engines and performances | Land Rover UK

It has 700Nm @ 1,500 - 3000 rpm , good fuel consumption , and not bad 0-60mph - 7.5 s time...

compared to petrol is still 510PS - 313PS = 197 PS less , but maybe a good torque ( 700Nm ) compensates that ?

It would interesting to know real life test results , because on the paper diesel looks very nice. And I would be needing to stop on every petrol station for a gas ...

Can anybody share real life experience on Petrol and Diesel Range Rovers ?

Thanks

If you have that kind of money to spend buy the supercharged one-anything else is a poor relation

fanatic, " If you have money for such a car so you will have on a petrol too... " everybody says that and I agree with that also. I wont be counting money for petrol

But I also want to consider a practicality of Supercharged , that I would need to count a miles from one petrol station to another :D

Or its not that bad as I think ?

If you are serious why not ask your local Land Rover dealer for a test drive, or even if they can arrange a Land Rover experience day for you.

Because they are DEALERS and their job is to sell... I want to hear an opinions of the owners.

Hi Thomas,

I have driven the 4.6 range rover sport project kahn supercharged (my brother used to own it and i borrowed it from time to time) its an awesome machine. there is indeed something very special about driving it but in my mind the decision is down to stopping and filling up. in a petrol you will be filling up every 2-3 days if your doing any decent mileage. dont know about you but i find it torture standing putting in 100+ liters of fuel in to a vehicle especially in the weather were having now.

i do own and drive a P38 Diesel and own a Petrol one too. again there only slightly different in performance as i have the diesel chipped but for day to day driving i do prefer the diesel.

if i were you ask the dealer for a 24hr test drive of both

best of luck with what ever one you choose.

Why hasn't anyone said "ask your butler what he thinks" yet. Come on guys, get with the programme.

And to think that I was impressed by the guy on here who could afford to drive a Range Rover AND buy chocolate hob nobs!

No just if your not worried about fuel buy the petrol if your worried about fuel and can't afford to run the petrol buy a diesel

I think anyone who can afford a brand new Range Rover can also afford the fuel it takes to run it!
It is not a question of being able to afford it but if the extra driving pleasure you get from driving the Supercharged is worth the extra fuel cost over the diesel which is also a great car but probably not as great as the Supercharged.
Each one to their own I suppose!
I vote 5.0L Supercharged and have started saving to fill it up!
