I wanted to check the oil pressure to rule out a low pressure problem while investigating a tapping noise, unfortunately the method to connect a gauge as described in the workshop manual is impossible on the Thor engine due to ancilliaries and cooling pipes being in the way.
As a work around I used a oil filter sandwich plate, the type used to add oil coolers with an additional 1/8 NPT take off to connect a guage. With the oil cooler connectors blanked off and just the gauge connected I got a reading of 50psi when cold and 40psi as the engine came up to running temp. Not bad for an engine at tickover.
Compared to trying to remove the oil pressure switch fitting a take off adaptor a much simpler approach and was quite simple to do
Just thought I'd share the idea for others who may need to do the same
