On tank mk1, it could do 60mph at 2k revs, the new 300tdi XS is more 2.5k for 60mph.

Is there a difference in the ratio's that makes this?

I liked the original 300tdi because (to me) it means more mpg.
 
Has the same tyres on as the other one. So don't think it is that. Was thinking it is the trans box or something. Did them change then between 96 & 97?
 
Early D1's had a larger pulley on the alternator and later models and a smaller one so at any given revs the smaller ones spin faster, given that the tacho reads off the alternator this can give different readings if the wrong one for the year is fitted, found this out on one of mine, might explain the difference you have

Ok, so i 'just so happen to have' a spare water pump, alternator, tensioner.

They appeared last night out of no where :D. Will lost lic once stupid net wakes up.
