Hi Guys
Right i went to Tong last month and went through some deep water (not the lake for those that know)..

I had water inside the car which wasnt an issue, iv got breathers snorkle etc and everything is sealed.

However since then iv developed a "whine/moan" when under acceleration, doesn't need to be harsh acceleration just pootling along so to speak.

Iv attached a link to youtube with a vid, its not the best but if you listen you can hear it start when i accelerate and stop when im not.

Im assuming its a bearing in either Tbox or Gbox but would like your guys opinions,

Tonight when comng to work i had windows down and noticed everynow and again that there was a sound as though there was broken metal being picked up and then thrown aroud abit if that makes sence, Breakdown of a bearing) not in the vid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mKNnUMduy4&feature=youtube_gdata_player

iv changed all oils, diffs, g box, engine, and t box, now the tbox didnt look too healthy so im leaning towards this, any ideas before she goes bang and leaves me stranded?

also

Iv noticed a clunk aswell which is backlash so how do i stop this aswell, and rear diff seal is leaking from the pinion so assuming this will need attention aswell

The wine under acceleration/deceleration I have seen a few times before. Does it do this (or more noticeable) when in 4th and 5th? If so
I would suspect the transfer box. I have rebuilt two transfer boxes (rebuild kit from Ashcroft) with a wine that kicked in around 60Mph. In both cases when I stripped them down I found the intermediate shaft to have two much float/ worn bearings/ shaft.

This can be looked at whilst the box is still installed. Drain the box and remove the cover plate. You will see the gear shafts, check the intermediate shaft for play side to side. Another thing to look for is if you have a oil weep from one end off the intermediate shaft (opp end to the stake nut).
When I changed these I replaced the O rings, bearings, shaft nut etc but was also generous with the black sealant on both ends, and then tightened down until no side toe side play then another 1/4 turn to preload the bearings. Both boxes having now covered a number of K miles, no oil leaks and no wine.
Rebuilding these boxes with new bearings is mainly straight forward, but a press and dial gauge is needed.

Just throwing it out there, turbo? Slight boost leak maybe,

Or if your sure it drive train then drop all oils to check for water

I used the DTI to work out what shim I needed for the input gear assembly. When I assembled the new cross drill gear (into the case) with new Timkin bearings I had end float that I could feel . So used the DTI to measure so I could calculate what shim to use.

i changed all oils as i thought it may be that, def drive train not turbo warrior..

as i say tranny box was full o crap so may drop the oil again and check for play, i have got a new tranny box to go on wi 1.4 ratio so that may help also

forgot to mention, its noticable from 2/3rd from 20/30 mph not so much just top end

dont really notice it in 1st but then im not going that fast usually.
