Hi . Just been looking under the bonnet of my Range Rover and noticed that 3 of my 4 injectors are wet round the base of them . Could any one help with what maybe the cause my 300tdi is throwing loads of black smoke under acceleration .

Wet with oil or diesel? Sometimes hard to tell if area is dirty. Give it a good clean and see what emerges. Black smoke on acceleration would generally indicate over fuelling. Has the FIP or turbo been tweeked?

Thanks for the reply . I Think it’s fule, yes the FIP has been tweaked and was throwing out black smoke . I have now just turned the boost pin to reduce the smoke it was set on the maximum gradient . It’s now running fine still smokes but very little , am waiting on some new copper washers to see if that helps with the leaks from injectors it’s all I think it can be I have checked every thing else .

The leak off pipes linking the injectors might be leaking if it's defo fuel.

Since you have 3 you suspect are leaking it's almost certainly one of the leakoffs - looks a bit to me as if you have 1 silicone one on there as well, and silicone does not like constant exposure to diesel

Good spot. Do you mean the orange pipe? Your keen eye made me re-examine the pictures. To be honest, the leak off connection points look dry. :(

Aye the orange one. Yeah they look dry - just having 3 wet injectors normally has a common cause, almost 0 chance of 3 of the 4 washers being toast - plus the "leaked" fuel would be blackened from soot not fresh. Might be a leaky spilloff banjo also? Simple things first!
