Due to the input shaft on the water pump shearing whilst the wife was on her way home from work, I need to replace the pump.

I have got all but one of the water pump bolts out, just got the one behind the power steering pulley left, so any tips for getting the pulley and remaining bolt out.

Have ordered a pump and new drive belt, have got anti freeze as well, is there anything I need to watch out for or beaware on fitting the new pump ?

Hi

I did mine recently, I happened to have a oil filter remover that did the trick, its the rubber strap design, and gave me just enough "grab" to undo the pulley bolts, although there will be plenty of other ideas on here!!!

Thanks for the replies, don't have a strap wrench and couldn't find one locally last night, but managed to hold the pulley with some water pump pliers.

Think I will invest in a strap wrench for the tool box though.

Normally leaving the belt on holds the pulleys enough to crack them off and undo the bolts, when you say it sheared do you mean the impeller came off the shaft, or did it actually shear externally? If the later you can't leave the belt on I guess.

It was the later so no choice on leaving the belt on.

Got the new pump and belt fitted this afternoon whilst working from home.
