Hi.

Well I (sorry that should be WE) am tentatively looking at replacing my Disco 300Tdi with a 110. It needs to be the 5 door for easy child transport and be in a reasonably tidy condition. I have a local specialist who can carry out some work if needed but at the end of the day the budget will be thebudget and it has to buy the car or buy the car and get it up to "Family" spec.

I've loved having the Disco but realisticly I've probably got a max. 2 years before the MOT says NO on rust and some of the worst chassis rot would need chunks of body removal and I imagine whatever body came off may not survive going back on so the cost is spiraling!

The plan is to replace with a similar age vehicle (R reg ish) with less rot or (as a defender is) more repairable. The 110 would also improve my boot space making it more user friendly for doubling betwen work and young family.

Anyone with a 300Tdi 110 Defender SW in good nick at a sensible price - I'm interested. I'm in the North West but would happily travel for a good vehicle (I was to slow but I was willing to travel down to almost Cambridge just to look at a good one recently)

Just so you know . you can NOT legally import Land Rover 90 or 110 with 300 TDi.. this engine does NOT meet EPA regs. in ANY state.. yea I know they are some here in USA.. but subject to SEIZURE here in states like NC. later bc

I must be honest I just ignored this post completely as "missplaced" or slightly spam like.

Anyway, i may be sorted if I can resolve the HPI check that sugests the manual 96 110 I'm looking at had a secret life as a 7 speed automatic box!?! (see http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/odd-hpi-result-what-auto-box-would-go-1996-110-a-261636.html)
I know a gearbox chnge is not he end of the world and no-one would bother the DVLAs little head about it if they DIYd it but I just wander why it doesn't show on any of the paperwork (considering that it has most of the last 100,000miles of receipts there, meaning it would have to be in the first 4-5 years it was changed).
