It really does? I have a very limited knowledge on diesels, that is why I ask. I have worked on turboed petrol engine for a few years, and I know that a bigger intercooler really does not help in the power dept, it just gives you the ability to advance the timing for more power. I mean it does help a bit, but not like mose people think.
The reason I ask, is because I have a pretty big stock GTR intercooler I could use on my 300 TDI, if it really does help

Take it from me, it really does make a HUGE difference. Obviously the combustion process is completely different from a petrol engine. The colder the air, the much better a turbo diesel will perform. This makes the air denser, therefore able to increase the mass of air available to assist combustion.
Thats certinally the line I would go down

A better performing cooler putting colder air into the chambers has more oxygen in than hot air.
Hence why then you can add fuel to the mix
More fuel with More oxygen = bigger bang = more go lol
But saying that you still need the air flow against the cooler to be able to cool the air inside the cooler.
