Thats fine but in the first part of the thread that I was replying to there was no coment to the distance he would be traveling

That's the most garbage english ever. When i'm driving a vehicle, i try and make driving the vehicle constitute my main activity! When i'm not driving a vehicle, i'm not the driver!

The only other comment we hear about is when we talk about drink driving. But you rarley hear about the driver actualy drinking whilst driving!

That's government legalese for yer. But what It's actually saying is you can drive a vehicle without a tachograph if it's under 7.5 tonnes and your main job isn't that of a delivery driver for who ever owns the vehicle. So if your a gardener or a builder and you need to hire a minidigger & trailer it to a job you can. but if you work for JCB delivering mini diggers all over the country then you can't.

If i may stick me ore in here!
I got stopped for speeding on the A5 near milton keynes doing 60 in a 50 towing a 2.5 tonne mini digger and trailer (about 60 miles from home) and the old bill never mentioned the digger or trailer! they did complain because i had left the flashing light on on the digger though! :D

I often tow mini diggers and a rock breaker weighing nearly 3 tons and have never had a problem! it seams as long as the vehicle looks like its up to the job they wont bother you!
