Hello all, my wonderful Disco decided to snap a cambelt at the weekend, just looking at kits and there are options for an earlier or a later kit.....my disco was previously a 2.0l petrol so the reg or chassis number are useless and I have no idea what engine they have put in.
I have narrowed it down to being a 21L engine. but can anyone tell me if this is the later or newer and whether I need the flat tensioner or lipped tensioner? thanks in advance

We’re you moving at the time cos you may need more than a cam belt :(

I can’t help identify the engine but if you puts some pics of the engine somebody will probably identify it.:)

Good luck.

It definatly needs more bits that the timing belt kit :( has broken 3 rocker arms and 6 push rods are bent. Those I can order no issue. I just haven't had a chance to take apart anymore to see what tensioner I need whether it's the flat edged or lipped. and wanted to get timing belt kit on order so can do it all at weekend.

All 300tdi's should have the later kit with the lipped crank sprocket and flat tensioner as far as i know, as it was a correction for an issue with early engines eating belts.

You could just dump it at Gotts in Alton and let them deal with it?
