Gents,
I've just fitted one of these and it is brilliant, yes it is cheaper to tweak the fuel and boost yourself but for the sake of zero faff and immediate results I'd recommend this mod. I got mine for £50, works best if the truck still has factory settings.
I've done EGR, this boost pin, next step de-cat then Allisport intercooler. I'll probably stop there, not sure spending almost a grand on a bigger turbo for the sake of less lag and minor bhp gain is worth it, unless somebody can tell me what I want to hear and that a turbo will pump things up???
As a note to the mechanical inepts like me, it was super easy to do the EGR and this Boost Pin, so don't be put off, have a go!
For the nay sayers, this is the new hardened version before somebody says the TT ones are soft etc. They ain't anymore!

Just a quick note, if everything else remains the same a bigger turbo will actually make the turbo lag worse as there is more weight (inertia) in the rotating components that needs to be overcome. To get around this you will probably need to go the VNT route which wont be cheap.

Well there we go, as I thought, turbo a waste of dosh. It is another vehicle now with the boost pin. It's effortless power. BRILLIANT! Allisport Intercooler could be even more fun but will I need to tweak anyrhing if i fit one?

I've watched the install video and it looks easy enough to fit, my truck is standard tune, never had egr....can you describe the difference the pin made to your truck please? How it is different?

Cheers!

Simple to fit and plenty more power.problem I had was the engine I have was already altered to put in more fuel so i had to back everything off... A little guess work.

Did you remove the plastic washer or not?

Reiny, it is outrageously easy to fit, even for me and I have zero mechanical experience. I took my time, watched and re-watched the instructional video then did it myself. The 300tdi is a little fiddly as the fuel pump is a bit canted and getting to the screws was a fiddle but I managed it ok. The difference is staggering though, there is power in every gear, he pulls uphill effortlessly and in all gears, it's quite thrilling to feel such a massive difference. Because there are less gear changes, the economy is better too as long as you drive sensibly. I've been booting it around drinking in the sound of the turbo and mpg does drop. Drive carefully and mpg goes up approx 3 mpg.
EGR is very easy too, cuts smoke from the exhaust immediately. if you do anything to enhance your truck, for £65 do the EGR and Boost Pin guys, it's amazing!

Thanks Coffeelandy. I had never heard of this modification until last Sunday whilst having a chat with a friend who told me that he had a similar pin fitted by a local diesel specialist. Price is more or less the same as the one you fitted so it's just a matter of deciding whether to do the job myself or entrust it to experts. I'm a dab hand with the spanners so i think i'll just go ahead. It surely sounds interesting.

I'm very inexperienced with spanners and I managed it so you'll have no problems. Timber Trail 4x4 have a new hardened version.
