knackered rings /pistons /bores ,unopening exhaust valves

is easy to check valves opening fully ,head gasket perhaps ,other symptoms? do a compression check
bit of background, she was overheating, losing water, mixing oil and water and chugging from dipstick and oil filler cap.
Put new head on today, adjusted tappets and she runs sweet, pulls really well and does not get hot.
Noticed inlet manifold was very oily whilst doing head, as was pipe from crankcase breather
running from rocker cover to air intake??
cylinder bores looked o.k to me but i`m no expert.
Did have a go at cleaning the crankcase breather/oil separator but it hasnt made much difference.
Still chugging from dipstick and oil filler cap.

have you run it much, it might be just drying water out of engine ,inlet will allways be oily ,ts a turbo engine,tappets set correct?

do a compression check,all tappets have about the same amount of thread above nut?
