Hello, got a problem with smoke coming from the dipstick and oil filler cap on my 97 300tdi discovery. Would anyone know what could cause this??

bit of background, she was overheating, losing water, mixing oil and water and chugging from dipstick and oil filler cap.
Put new head on today, adjusted tappets and she runs sweet, pulls really well and does not get hot.
Noticed inlet manifold was very oily whilst doing head, as was pipe from crankcase breather
running from rocker cover to air intake??
cylinder bores looked o.k to me but i`m no expert.
Did have a go at cleaning the crankcase breather/oil separator but it hasnt made much difference.

Still chugging from dipstick and oil filler cap.

have you run it much, it might be just drying water out of engine ,inlet will allways be oily ,ts a turbo engine, tappets set correct?

I think a compression test tomorrow and re-check tappets, as you say it could well be boiling off the water left in the engine from the previous cracked head. I will post an update tomorrow.

to be honest there shouldn't be any water left in the engine..did you do an oil/filter change after you did the head ?
