Sorry can e explain in more detail as I am lost a bit .
I have changed prop but not taken splines apart and not sure what phase angle is?
Thanks excuse my lack of knowledge.

I did look earlier and thought the angle of the prop coming onto doughnut looked a bit odd .ie the diff looked like it didn't line up straight.
Then I thought maybe when it was poly bushed the tie bars (I may have that wrong! ) wernt done up enough thus not pulling axle up enough, I have checked and they are tight.

Is the sliding joint free, or perhaps worn in one place and acting as a lock, jamming the sliding action

Do u mean the sliding joint on prop?
As that is OK as moved freely when changed doughnut.
Is there another, if so please let me know, as that's something I've missed in my ownership of a RR and a D1 in the last 30 + years :D

Is the prop long enough, for the extended travel, can you use a longer prop and scrap the donut, have you facilities to point the nose of the diff upwards a bit, and then phase the prop (like Range Rover front axle in brochure already posted) ?

Looking the prop upgrade kit that mad hat has posted below looks like it would do the trick.
