hi everyone,

i have a 94 defender 300tdi, had a few little fairly inexpensive probs with it since i've had it but nothing i couldnt do myself. but from what i noticed today think i'm in need of advice (pretty much novice)/

Today i noticed a loose sort of loudish grinding noise when i put the clutch down when stationary and it grinds until i change and first gear bites.it doesnt make the noise when clutch pedal is released in neutral. i drove home from work expecting to hear the same while changing gear going along, but it seemed as smooth as anything (thats not for definate though as its pretty wet where i am and the landy is like a tin can with all the water flicking up at the rear).

i spoke to someone about it, and the only thing that we (he) could think of was needing a new clutch plate, and he did mention something else, but cant remember what it was.

just wondering if any of you guys has any idea of what it could be and if so parts costs.

any help would be much appreciated, as my sense of humour is slightly leaving me now, still love it though!

thanks

ed

yup just had same prob on the 90 and replaced clutch release bearing.

cheers for the replies, i will look into that then.

is this ok to drive for a while (1 week) becuase its going into the garage for something else next wednesday anyway, or is this an a.s.a.p job?

thanks ed

I drove mine for about a month and covered approx 500 miles before it went completely and I had to drive it with no clutch. Pulling away in third is great fun but seem to annoy the cars behind yu for some reason
