Hi, i have just bought my 3rd disco, and like my other 2 it wouldnt pull the skin off rice pudding!!

I have all my cars remapped by the same guy and my 1996 disco cant be done!!

does anyone know if the ecu can be remapped?? or if the car can be tuned at all for more bhp and torque?? my cars always get better mpg after a map so that would be nice too :D

any help would be great cheers Jake

Depends on how much you want to spend.
The cheap reliable mods are a decat and de EGR tweek the pump band clean the intercooler.
Next stage for me would be a larger intercooler.

It's worth to clean the inlet manifold as well

You can shorten the wastegate arm as well

ive had 2 discos the first 1 had nothin done to if for more power, but the 1 ive got now has a ddecat, egr blanked off and the fuel pump tweeked.i can realy tell the difference

Thanks for the info...Mine has a larger intercooler fitted...i will be trying the fule pump mod tomorrow, looks like EGR delete and de-cat to follow, i will post results.

Ok to get more power from an EDC you have a few options.

Here is what I did.

Started with 114bhp after a rolling road test.

It has a larger intercooler from allard.
The head has the inlets and exaust ports polished I did this as the head Gasket was needing doing and the head was off so why not.
The inlet manifold is polished
EGR is removed
All hoses are now silicone or stainless steel pipe from the MAF to the inlet manifold.
It has been chipped I had the chip done at Challenger 4x4 it was swap the ECU for a chipped one this cost £300 but you can do a resistor mod for a lot less.
An Itg air filter
De-cat and center box removed
Exhaust gas temp gauge

Most of the work I did myself and most of the parts are good second hand parts.

Total cost was £867. But I did buy the disco for £200 as it was an mot failure and a non runner

It now returns 148.8 bhp with a standerd intercooler what that will change to with the allard on I will have to find out the mpg improved but not a grate deal, but if you boot it it drops off a lot

Resistor mod look here

And for the chip just the chip you would still need to fit it
