Probably the main reason I don't have a Jag anymore is because I couldn't get down into the seat, especially the E type, and to get out again, well, that'd be fun.
And I'll have to dig up some old photos of my Jag fleet from all that time ago.

I'd like one of these, reminds me of my pair of '66 S types, a 3.4, (revs sweet) and the 3.8 (lots of grunt), and that colour, nice one @Henry_b , but I had you as a supercharged V8 Jag man.

V8 is too rich for me ;)

3.0 is still plenty quick though ;)

I love the old jags my dad was into them & had loads over the years, always loved the exhaust notes

Both our kids, son and daughter, as babes in arms started out riding wrapped up in a rug in the passenger footwell of the E type, that was, of course the '70's before child restraints and laws that went with them.
Our son as a three year old, told his preschool teacher about the E type, "my Dad has a Jag-you-are, a very fast car."

:p - the 300Tdi is eminently tunable - and, as I have said ( too many times  :p:p ), mine is tuned to 146 HP *- it is NOT slow ... and also, the only electronics are within the MFU, so max £350 if that lets its smoke out ;) :D

* and could be much more, but the intake roar is feckin unbearable IMHO :)

Hi disco 1.what do you mean £350 to make it smoke out.this is what I have been thinking of doing.changing auto for manual.changing electronic pump for manual.until I have seen this.any info would be grateful.

@malcolm bell
The auto shouldn't be giving you poor performance as you say yours does, to the point where you wish to convert it to a manual.
If for nothing at all, you ought to be seeing some gains with the auto, as not having to lay off the throttle to change gears allows the turbo to provide continuous boost throughout the rev range.
As long as the engine is putting out what it was designed to give, your best option in my opinion is to get a replacement torque converter from Ashcroft, which has a lower stall speed than the stock unit, and significantly improves the performance of the transmission.

I've had one of those on mine for a couple of years now, and whiles it's not a race car, mine is definitely not slow.

You should as well adjust the tension in the kick-down cable of the transmission, so it holds on to gears slightly longer, getting more out of the engine before shifting up.

You'll find that over time, your kick-down cable would have stretched a bit, reducing the tension on the internal governor of the transmission, which would then be shifting up earlier than you would wish and generally having the vehicle feel like its gutless.

Hi disco 1.what do you mean £350 to make it smoke out.

I mean that my financial limit from electronic failure is £350, as the only electronic "thing" on my D1 now is the MFU.

"Letting the smoke out" refers to any electronic unit failing ..... it's a slang term expressing the importance of some sort of unobtainium within the electronic sh*t box which needs to be in there for the bl@@dy thing to work:D

I HAD to get rid of the EDC as #4 injector had failed ( or rather the NLS coil had ) - so instant MOT failure ( then, but not now  :mad::mad:) - so I went down the road of full width IC, and highly tuned FIP ..... and 146HP. ... so way better than 122 from EDC :):):)

As for removing the auto - it's entirely possible, but it would be no use to me  , cos I couldn't drive it o_O .... (medical) - and due SWMBO's health issues, I am currently getting the bits together to convert hers from manual TO auto.....;)
