My mate runs lpg on his terrano 2.7 tdi and it's an animal. Can be set up for a small power increase and help with cheaper running fuel costs.
 
I thought derv engine wouldnt run on lpg a they are to higher compression and dont have spark they rely on pressure and lpg relies on a spark? i have heard on dual fuel on a derv where lpg is also injected into the derv air mix to make it burn better, but cant imagine it being any good on just lpg? would like to see it done though
 
If I understand the system corectly a small amount of LPG is added to the combustion misture, this improves the burn from 80% to 98% giving better mpg and increased power.
 
So its not a conversion like with a petrol engine.
Seems a lot of messing about for very little gain and not only do you still have to buy diesel you also have to buy lpg. I've also heard of lpg conversions going bang on turbo engines.
Much easier to make your own homebrew fuel in my book. Especially if you can get waste oil for nothing.
But each to their own and I'd be interested to see it done.
 
Not heard of this one before either, I havent even heard great reports of lpg in petrol engines, several peeps have had problems.
As shifty said it wouldnt be too hard to make something explosive or at least very inflammable experimenting with this.
On a practical level im not sure how to inject the gas, it would surely have to go into the high pressure side of injection system and I cant imagine it would repay costs and you would need to carry lpg on board wit all the issues that brings.
Is ther a lot wrong with the power and economy of 300 anyway and if ther is why not make your own bio instead??
 
I was interested right up until i saw it's an additive not a fuel replacement. just buy cheap cooking oil and whack that in instead, that makes a good additive and gives you an appitite for chips when you get home ;)
LPG conversions cost big£££ and if you still have to buy diesel as well, i can't see any kind of return. and you'll lose cabin space from the lpg tank.
Great for petrol engines though! both my brothers drive beafy 4.0litre+ 4x4s and return the equivelant of 40mpg! brilliant. but not for diesel's.
 
Then why in God's name don't you drive a v8 with 40mpg instead of a doozel doing 25mpg?

I ask myself that question too often, it always results in... i don't want a jeep but i have been looking into converting mine to a 3.5v8.
