Guys,

I've tried the search option but I'm struggling using my phone.

I've been away for the last week & had a message that for the last week my hazards have been flashing, the battery was obviously flat when I got home but was able to start it with jump leads. At 1st I thought I'd left the hazards on but it's not the case as when I press the hazard button the hazard warning light also illuminates on the dash, when I turn the hazards off the indicators still flash away.

The disco is a state anyway & just used for off-roading, the central locking works occasionally but I was sure that the fob opened the doors before I started to open it using the key so I'm assuming the alarm (if still there) isn't on, plus I can start it & drive it with the indicators flashing away.

Any ideas? Is it a common fault? Can I just bin whatever alarm unit is present & stop the flashing?

Basically I don't really mind about the central locking or alarm but I can't really drive this with what gives the impression to all on the road is my hazards going.

Any help is appreciated!

There is a black relay under the steering wheel ,Maybe it's knackered. If you don't mind not having indicators just pull it out. I've changed mine a few times over the years.

Thanks for the reply Thomo, I'd like to have indicators really.

Is it a simple case of finding the alarm unit (wherever it is) & unplugging it?

Central locking is a bonus if I can keep it but realistically if I can have normal indicators & have to use the key I can live with that

It might have something to do with the inertia crash sensor. I have had mine come on when I hit a big lump off roading. When it activates, the central locking is supposed to operate as well. Turning ignition off, then back on is supposed to cure it though. Anyway, just a thought.

Thanks KNine

I was at Paddocks yesterday & mentioned this problem to the guy behind the counter. Apparently this fault isnt uncommon & connected with a connector under the steering column? Has anybody else come across this, I believe the connector is meant to be in a cross shape & made out of something like bakerlite..?
