Hi I've bought my 110 country man
It was a 200tdi but it has no engine
I've been given a disco 300tdi engine and all the parts I need. Would the conversion be easier with with a td5 r380 gearbox.
Thanks

No...…….
Youl need a 300tdi bell housing & fit a input shaft out of a box that came out a 300tdi so using a 300 clutch flywheel ect ;)

Too much hassle if your looking to get it on the road soon.

Is there a gearbox that I could use which will make the conversion easier.
300 tdi and def r380 or discor 380with defender top and selector shaft adapter, fitting engine and box in 300 position not the 200 position ,use disco front prop and need tunnel etc etc

Yes the right one for the 300tdi defender or as Jm says ;) & youl need to weld in the 300tdi engine mounts.
Did you get a transfer box with it ??

Be much easier to just source a 200tdi & sell the conversion. (some on ebay)

+1 :) - Worth considering the 300 route though, as spares for 200Tdi's are getting thin on the ground, 'specially cylinder heads.....

IMHO, a TD5 is not an option - unless you have deep pockets and CBA with the electronics.

I have got the gearbox out of the disco which the 300tdi came from could I use that and just fit a different bell housing?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to land rovers. I just want the best conversion for her. I live in North Dorset is there anyone who could give me a hand to do the conversion.
Thanks

I wouldn't consider doing a td5 conversion = ballache lol & I stopped looking for 200tdi bits when I sold
my lightweight a few years ago. Mainly 300tdi bits or complete motors I seam to collect these days. ;)

@Buddie - just so you know, various external links don't work:-

It was a advert for a defender 300tdi gearbox if I got it would it make the job easier or would it need more modifications.

AFAIK, the bell housing is the same - FTC3921 as shown in this evilbay ad:-

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283588528961

The differences are the in the gear change location- what JM termed the "defender top" in his post above, #4 :)

So, in answer to you question, yes it would make the job easier, as everything should be in the right place for a deafener - apart from the engine mounts.... and some mods to the 200 Tdi transmission tunnel.

if you want to quote an ad from somewhere, screenshot it, and upload the pic ;)

So this is the correct gearbox which I can bolt up to the disco 300tdi engine.
Would this put the engine bin the correct position?

yes ,when fitted to its crossmember the gearbox mounts about 50mm further forward than the 200 box, pushing engine close to the rad, hence the need for another tunnel which has a bulge on drivers side to accomodate the t/box
