New, to me, disco 300 tdi got it cheap as it had a fuel problem. I have cleaned sedimentor, fitted new lift pump, filter x2, and even leak off pipes. Feed pipe just before lift pump had been cut and rejoined so checked that was clear, can blow fuel from tank to lift pump and lift pump will lift and push fuel round IP and back to tank. stop solenoid is OK. PROBLEM IS it starts and runs fine after priming, runs great for half a mile or so but then gradually dies to tickover then stops and filter is nearly empty. Thought it may be s**t in tank or holed pick up in tank but boot floor has been bodged so can't get in to see. In desperation cut lift and return pipes and ran it from a bottle of clean diesel in engine bay, still the same, so Tank is not problem.
What the hell can I try next?

Had it running from a separate fuel supply in engine bay (naughty but was at a loss) so fuel tank/sender/sedimenter and pipe from there to lift pump and return were all out of the loop.

your only left with lift pump , is it piped up correct does it push fuel out if engine turned on the key

Not sure and can't get to car again today, What difference could it make? (for when I look tomorrow) and welcome back James.

needs to be a very small hole to maintain a working pressure in the pump too large and the fuel just returns,google stc3597 and youll see

Will look tomorrow but was told by previous owner that it just started playing up, a likely story, thanks for now.

Once again the font of all landy knowledge has done it new lift pump fitted (even though the old one seemed ok) and all is now supoib. thanks James

On the delphi lift pumps there is a gauze in the top that can get clogged wi ****.
