I have a Disco 300tdi in my 110. It works nicely (apart from the Disco transfer box making me do 2nd gear 20mph on some hills).

Bloke looked under my bonnet and saw that I had removed the EGR system including the FIP connection to the ECU.
He said it wouldn't be running best since the computer wasn't plugged in, and economy would suffer. He also said the he could connect a laptop to the FIP 2 pin connector and sort this out, maybe improve output too.

Is this correct? Would it be worth me connecting the ECU?
I'd have thought you'd have to connect to the ECU and not the FIP, the modified ECU then sending different signals to the FIP

WHAT?

Do your injectors have wires coming off them? Does your injection pump have a steel wire from the throttle linkage to the pedal?

Late Auto Discos had an ECUed 300tdi, unless someone has put one in your 110 you don't have one and he is talking a HUGH amount of rubbish.

The EGR being pulled off will let the engine work very well, and their was a little vac module which took the throttle position told it where it was and operated the EGR valve, ALL of this can be disconnected and eveything will be just fine.

Once we confirm you don't have the ECUed 300tdi engine I think you should take it to him and watch him BS you, then ask him to explain it all, once he realises you know what his face turn red.
