got a 300tdi disco, the clock stopped working but then started again, also after after being left for a few hours the clock resets and also the radio resets itself and ask for a code, what could be causing this cheers

Easy one, intermittent break in the 12volt supply of an iffy earth connection.

thanks for that ill have a look, will it be an earth behaind the dash??

There is an earth pickup point (a post with a few black wires terminated on it) in each footwell behind the kick panels can't help on which side to go for.
