Folks ... I have a 95 300TDi ES - electric everything .. most bits work OK, But...

The front and (especially) rear sunroofs periodically stick part-way before they pop up, and may not complete the opening cycle. The sticking point seems to be due to them not lifting high enough as they slide back to open. Then they may stick an inch open or pop up with a bang!

Replacement Disco 1 units are expensive s/hand - unavailable new.

Any easy fixes to this one please? I can buy a salvaged units but the fitting costs are greater than the parts cost and there's no guarantee that the problem will not recur.

Many thanks

Lenny - grazie,

There's a fair amont of grease around but poss. not in exactly the right places. I suspect the dried-up gunge may be part of the problem, in some of the less accessible places eg on the drive gear!? But I guess wear/adjustment is a possibility - Mr Haynes doesn't help much!
