i have a 300tdi discovery i swapped the clocks turn the ignition on and the fuel gauge went straight to the top it did this on the old clocks thats why i swapped anybody have any idea whats wrong with it may be something to do with it but when the clocks are connected one of the dash lights is on constantly even though the lights arent on

please help !!!!!!!

Lift up the rear carpet.
Lift up the foam underlay
Remove the 6 (IIRC) screws holding the round cover plate to the boot floor.
You'll see a multiplug.
Disconnect it.
Turn the ignition on (don't try and engage the starter) and observe the fuel guage.
It should fall to empty and the yellow light should come on.

If it remains where it is then your issue is in the wiring between the fuel sender and the guage.
If it falls it's time to take the sender assembly out of the tank.
