Hi All,

I just aquired a 300TDi in a 95 Disco.

Since this is all new to me, please could you tell me what is ahould be looking at to spot any common faults.

Thanks

David

Head gaskets £80 doing it your self (est)
Lift pumps £15 doing it yourself
But are generally good solid engines
And very easy to work on

Rust in the sills, rust in the boot floor, rust in the arches. Window regulators buggered, all the electrics, everything forward of the drivers seat up to and including the numberplate falling off. And rust. Door locks, alarm going off. Rear door jamming, rear seat belt mounts. Sunroof leaking. alarm fob issues. And rust.

Apart from that, reliable and no issues.

The question you should ask is how good is a disco 1995 and the list is
RUST
RUST
RUST!!!!!!

surely you should have done this before buying……...

Its was practically given to me, so I can't complain. The guy hasn't used it in 12 months and it was sat rotting on his drive, so I offered a few hundred quid for it. Ended up bringing it home.

Its no tax or test and needs some body work doing, I might give it the Dakar treatment, or fixed the body work, haven't decided yet.

The front number plate is stuck on the dash. How did you know.

Rear arches are shot, boot floor is 12 months old, that the last thing done. I'm more interested in engine / tranmission issues at the moment, until I decide what to do with the body work.
