300TDi Changing a tensioner bearing:
A tensioner bearing can be sourced for your 300TDi engine for about £5.
Land rover will try to sell you the whole tensioner unit for £50+
The OEM one is a: SNR 6203EE
Replacements can be bought off ebay

Tools needed:
- Breaker Bar or Long Ratchet
- 15mm socket
- 30mm socket
- 1 socket
- 2x Flat Blade screwdrivers.
- Hammer
- Locktite
- (optional) Fan Spanner/Tippex
Method:
15mins start to finish.
- Remove Fan cowl upper portion by simply unclipping it on the left hand side
- Remove Fan (optional will give you more room to play with) Remember Left Hand Thread so whack it clockwise.
- Using a breaker bar with a 15mm socket on the tensioner pulley retaining bolt set the bar to about the 10 oclock position and press down to lift the tensioner pulley off the belt.
- Slip the belt out from under the pulley then release the pressure on your breaker bar
- If you are going to remove the belt, mark it with tippex with an arrow to show the direction of rotation, I just left mine in place.
- The tensioner pulley should now be hanging down.
- With the whole tensioner unit still bolted to the engine, reset your breaker bar back onto the same bolt, except this time turn it clockwise enough just to crack the bolt (its a left hand thread)
- Swap your breaker with the 15mm onto the single stud that holds the whole tensioner to the front of the engine, remove it.
- With the tensioner unit in your hand and the pulley retaining bolt cracked, undo the bolt and remove it.
- Clean up the pulley hub so you can get a good purchase on the internal circlip that holds in the bearing.
- Use your two flat blade screwdrivers to gently ease out the circlip. (careful not to break it..!)
- flip the pulley over and use a 1 socket and hammer to drift out the old bearing
- Clean it all up
- align the new bearing and using the old one on top and a 30mm socket to gently drift the new bearing into place,
- replace circlip, (can be done with your thumb!)
- bolt the pulley with the retaining washer back to the tensioner arm with a drop of locktite on the threads, the final tightening of this bolt will be done when you refit it and lift it for the belt.
- Refit to the front of the engine in reverse as above.
