Hi all

I've just had a few immobiliser problems with my 94 300tdi disco so had the immobiliser removed, but installed a few other security measures.

We haven't had any immobiliser problems since but we have noticed that it will now start in gear!

I'm Just wondering if this could have caused this problem? Or if not what else might have?

Work was done by an auto electrician but the earliest he can look at it again in 6th of jan. If it's an easy fix I could probably do it myself.

Cheers
Adam

If I remember correctly, there is an inhibitor switch on top of the gearbox that prevents this, he must have either unplugged/removed this or indeed just disturbed it?

I once saw a car with a woman inside go in a pond because of just this problem, so I suggest it should be fixed if you can. She survived, but was a bit upset.

inhibitor switch is on lhs front of box just in front off where kick down cable enters youd need a 10mm spanner ,switch just breaks a live feed running through it,also works reverse lights hence 4 wires to for inhibitor 2 for reverse

If your 94 disco is a 1995MY then u still have the 200 series single button system, so I wonder how the immobiliser system was removed as it's a simple active system.
Do u still have an alarm and central locking?
Later systems inhibit starting by removing the earth from the various circuits therefore also providing the immobilising ie. starting and fuel etc.

they still use an inhibitor on the gear box ,till td5 whatever other immobiliser systems were fitted
