300tdi 110 chassis. Needs new rear crossmember with extensions and an outrigger. Main chassis rails are fine and while front half is mint due to land rover self lubricating over the years.

Near Dorchester, Dorset.

Hi live in NI so have to price getting it lifted but I may be interested. Do you have a way to lift this onto a lorry and access for a 45' taut liner? Could you send me some pics please?

Hi, Is this chassis from a station wagon or a pickup/van? Does it have any I.D. or v5? Many thanks.

It has to have V5/I.D to be able to legally sell it I believe so it should have it I would imagine!

Only way it can be sold without is if it's an unmarked/non stamped chassis (like a Marshal/Richards Galvy one).

thanks, but I'm aware of this, which is why im asking. I suspect the seller has no documentation and that's why there has been no reply. As for legal issues, have you seen how many used chassis there are in ebay with no docs, or even numbers? From series to range rover sport and disco 4, and everything in between. How can any of them be 'legal.'? It makes by blood boil! I've emailed a few querying their legal status, and strangely, have had no replies!

Why are you two having a rant about the legality about selling a used chassis?

No it doesn't have any documents, it's a spare part not a Landrover! If you want to use it on the road you will need to replace the chassis number with your own. But none if that is my concern, you can use it for an off-roader or make a trailer out of it...I really don't mind what happens to it.

I bought galv for mine, this is left over. Still well worth repairing but I wanted a quick swap so Landy wasn't off the road for long. So no registration is still on my Landrover and will not be for sale.

afaik this is technically illegal.. also since the id stays with the chassis, you need to make sure it is properly removed else someone could take the id away from you.

edit: looks like it isn't illegal.. but it kinda looks like legally it needs a test and on a qplate :shurg:

They would have a job, to claim the registration they would first have to have a complete vehicle for someone to inspect, then they wouldn't have a clue about any vehicle history so their argument against mine wouldn't stand a chance... But if someone was delusional enough to think it was worth it then arguably possible.

it's not worth the risk imo, just cut the id from the dumb iron

Just for your information, I was not having a rant, simply asking a genuine question about the item advertised. As for "spare part", just worth mentioning the police won't see it that way (chassis with number ground off and re-stamped). Thanks for answering my question by the way.

You don't half spout some ****e. Perhaps a link to the Law that he's breaking would be useful. But until then your just talking ****e.

I'm interested as my chassis is fooked... Just need a couple of pics to see condition of it, Would hate to borrow a trailer and drive down from Glos, to collect it. Only to find out it's worst than the one on mine.

i'm not sure so had a google.

it doesn't seem to be illegal, but if you reuse an old chassis then it looks like you need to be on a q plate.

how they can tell when the dumb irons rust off and need welding is beyond me though :)

You is correct. NO law against using a 2nd hand chassis, whatsoever. As long as you inform them. Nowadays you tend to get an age related plate anyway as they're trying to do away with Q plates.

I may be wrong but I don't think they stamped the chassis on 300's I've never seen one  Mine is on a plate attached to the dash on N/S visible thru screen. and on vin plate on the brake servo mount..

they did

My 300 is stamped on the O/Side front chassis leg. As for changing a chassis and needing to have it re registered with a Q plate, as far as i remeber, for a vehicle to be put on a q plate, there is certain percentage of parts that need to be from another vehicle. If only the chassis is changed, then i dont think there is anything to worry about.
Info can be found on this if you google SVA regs.
