The viscous fan pulley bearing is nearing collapse on my 300 tdi and I'm looking to bypass with a different aux belt till I've enough time freed to fix it properly. I've worked out that a 7pk 1350 belt would first and hopefully tension up nicely. Does anyone know if this belt would be the right one or if not can point me in the right direction of one that will. Many thanks.

Have you tried putting a straight edge between the crank pulley and the water pump to make sure the belt run will clear the power steering pulley? Also the tensioner will push the belt towards the power steering pump pulley and I'm not sure how effective the tensioner will be as the belt will be approaching it at a different angle than normal so you may get a squeal from the alternator or power steering pulleys. Keep us updated how things go as it could be a handy get you home fix. if it works

I've seen it done before but with a 1400 and the alternater used as the main tensioner with some slotted brackets added to its top mounts. So I was kind of hoping a slightly shorter belt would erase the need for that too. I guess they'll only be one way to find out.

So finally got rounded looking at my Aux belt issue. 7pk 1380 is a perfect fit, done 400 miles plus with no issues.
