Hi all,

I was wondering if there's anyone which sold a good quality package package for a 300 tdi?

I want a minimum of fuss so ideally I want to buy everything from the same place as a package, as i'm sure most of you know sometimes if you buy one thing from one place and another from another place, you end up with all sorts of fitment problems. So i'm after a package comprising of:

Bigger bore exhaust
Bigger turbo
Bigger intercooler
Uprated turbo pump
...and anything else i'll need to keep the engine happy?

I'd like about 250 ft/lb torque, as I want to put some bigger tyres on her.

Id imagine you want to go to motor and diesel for one of the VGT turbos, as used on the international 2.8. Theyre not cheap though.

I think the, umm, ford ranger (?) also used the 2.8, so getting one from one of those may be an option?

Alisport will do you the intercooler, but, from all accounts, the turbo would give you more result per pound spent.

There is no replacement for engine displacement, I used to have a certain American brand 4x4 which had a 258cui 6 cylinder motor in it, I ran up Lighthouse Jeep parts in Norfolk and asked them the best way to get more power and speed out of it and was simply told 'put another 2 cylinders on it' ended up with a 360cui v8:D

I understand what you're both saying but I actually want to keep the 300 Tdi. In my mind, if I wanted a TD5, V8 or a TDCi then it would make more sense to just buy a new Land Rover rather than swap it. The main reason I want a bit more power is it's just the right time to do it.

I reckon the vgt is the way to go, if you can get rid of that low rev flat spot it will be well worth the money.

I have done the full width IC, and the tuned IP - bigger water rad is next, and then, when I can justify it, the VNT will be next. ( new rad cos the old one is iffy, and I want the thing to last ). then the upgraded AT, with the better TC.

From current experience, I wouldn't do the VNT without the IC

And if you going for performance, then fit an EGT.

edited for abbrevs:- IP = Injection Pump ; AT = Automatic Transmission ; TC = Torque Converter ; EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature Guage

I'm not sure what any of those abbreviations mean sorry apart from IC which I assume is intercooler and VNT which is the turbo?

I want to do exactly the same as you. Thus far I've blanked off the EGR, Decatted it, straight through exhaust, k andN airfilter all of which made it very smooth and pull steadily. Then I added a boost pin which really made a massive difference. I just want to put an electric fan in, bigger radiator, bogger intercooler and VNT turbo.

Where did you get the exhaust from?
What is a boost pin?
Have you found anywhere to supply you the rad/intercooler and turbo?

????????????????????????????????????

I got the exhaust and boost pin from Timber Trail as well as the air filter. https://timbertrail4x4.com/collections/frontpage/products/tdi-performance-tuning-pin
A boost pin replaces the existing pin in the fuel pump and lets more fuel be pumped in. It really is easy to fit and makes a massive difference.
I think I'm going to get the rad, intercooler and turbo from Allisport.
