I have got a 300 tdi disco on tick over it runs fine but as soon as you increase the revs to about 1750 -2000 it seems to miss fire and bellows out white smoke if you drive it it is realy flat i have checked all the boost pipes they are all i have checked there is no air or water in the fuel supply that is also ok ,and its not pressurising the header tank so dont think its the head gasket ,oh and if you smell the oil it has a horrible burnt smell to it ,do you think it is turbo related any advice will be much appreciated

or unburnt diesel
:5biamwithstupid::5biagree: Cold motor will do that let it warm up 5 min before you move it or give it throttle, And make sure all your glow plugs are working, it dosent have to be freezing for them to work. every time a cold motor starts the glow plugs come on.:D

Yaaaa but if it's running lumpy that shouldn't be it then

I thought if it was being over-fuelled it shouldn't miss

Not sure mate, have a quick search on the engine section or in this one

More likely than not someones had this problem and fixed it

A funky injector pump will do that. had it happen to me, new pump problem solved. To many jump at the head gasket thing to quickly:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yaaaa but if it's running lumpy that shouldn't be it then ? I thought if it was being over-fuelled it shouldn't miss and should be black smoke

unless of course it was a faulty in...............oh never mind:rolleyes:

easiest thing is to take it to a garage and ask them to do a sniff test then you'll know if tis HG

Stat 1 Stat1 Dr Martin Dr Martin stat 1 Beyond my skills, now we need the specialists :D

there are 2 kinds of white smoke ,water disappears quickly usually head gasket etc after off roading with rad been bunged ,unburnt fuel hangs about, unburnt because of fault injection or faulty egr valve

First rule of diagnosis "What did you change?" - sounds like something happened while you were playing, perhaps a small rupture that took a while to bleed out/in.

Double-check for signs of damage along the fuel system, starting at the tank and work forward. Do the same for air then water.

Something to consider until the Dr arrives.
