Little bit of help needed here.

just got a Safari Snorkel SS350HF system
( Safari Snorkel System - SS350HF )

this is meant to be for the 2.5 Turbo D. but i seam to have the air flow meter in the way. as well as the bracket that holds the meter.

any ideas of pics of this system on a 300 TDI Auto.

Many Thanks

Non Abs

It looks just like mine - or at least close enough to be a 'spot the difference' competition.

Mine's a '96 300 TDi AUTO with definitely no ABS....if that helps :D

Ah yes, just re-read OP it is an auto...

Looking at safari website, they don't mention owt about EDC (auto engine) but it looks like you'll need the ABS version even though you don't have ABS!

Are Safari part of Britpart???? I'd contact them and see what they say - hope you haven't drilled your wing already...

the ABS version doesnt go under the air flow meter, the pipe from the wing to the air box is 'Z' shaped and goes into the side of the air box next to the inner wing. the air box also needs to be moved closer to the engine to allow the pipe to fit.

oh and Safari is an australian company, nothing to do with Britpart

But the ABS version does come down the wing further and so misses the AFM, so should be the one to fit to an EDC equipped 300TDi...

The britpart comment was a subtle attempt at sarcasm!

I hope you're wrong - I'd just decided I could live with one of these snorkels as it doesn't come as far along the wing as I thought.......ut then if my Disco would need the long one :(

Exactly the same issue I have with the safari's... I like the look of the mantec snorkels, hidden in the wing but they're so damn expensive! I'm just planning a homebrew version at the mo... should be do-able for around £30 solid pipework from top to airbox

With ABS, you can see the abs unit behind the airbox.

So it's definitely the very long one that fits the non-ABS auto???

If so, I'll find a different one - can't stand how it looks!!

What a bunch of tossers!

Are we sure they're nowt to do with ****part???!!!:D

strange that, Paddocks knew exactly which snorkel to send me, and ive not heard of anyone else being sent the wrong snorkel.

maybe they just happened to have this snorkel on the shelf and tried to flog it on knowing it was wrong but wanting to take your money anyway. either way its a great way to do business, "we know were selling you wrong parts but bend over anyway while we shaft you senseless!"

Ok new problem. Fitted it all up on the disco.
Now wile driveing when in the high rev range it seams to go flat.
Took the top of air box off, tested it and the problem goes Has anyone else Came across have an air flow problem with a safari system?

mine looses a tiny bit of power at top revs. have heard this is always the case as it takes more effort to suck the air through, but unsure how true that is. i'l probably be corrected
