ok then, lookin to get a bit more poke out of my 300tdi disco, its alraedy got egr blanked off and a straight through downpipe, and ive also increased the fuelling on the pump, and although it is much better, i reckon it needs more boost now.
Was gunna adjust the actuator rod, but i can hardly see it, never mind adjust it!!!
So, was wondering if i could fit a bleed valve to up the boost a bit, has anyone fitted one to theirs??
or any other suggestions please?
Ta, in advance;)

hi mate iv tried uping the boost pressure on my 300 it seams the actuater rod needs shortning by 1/4 of an inch but i wouldnt garentee the mod or the life of the engine.
if youv got the money get a uprated intercooler

bit of a thread jack here but has anyone noticed problems with increasing boost etc?

I have been told there are adjustments i cant do to mine with it being a late auto 300 but from some of the people i have spoken to they recon that hgf can and has been caused by these adjustments making the engine run hotter. Might not be true but just wanted others opinions.

For late 300tdi auto with the EDC....your only option is a Tunit kit

Diesel Tuning by Tunit Diesel Performance With Over 2500 Applications

Unless you are gonna change your fuel pump to the older style non electric controlled type. Then you can play around with the boost increase and fuel pump adjustments.

Before I knew about the Tunit Kit, I tried increasing the boost release on my auto 300tdi (without adjusting the fuel pump) to 1.2 bar....and the engine does run hotter...in fact, it still does even after re-adjusting the boost back down to 1 bar.....so don't really know if it is actually related, as winch etc was fitted same time and may restrict airflow a bit...

everybody I know has upped their boost by adjusting the rod.

cant get to the rod to save my life!!!, been to my friendly engine tuner today for him to ave a look, and he recommended a "dawes device" type manual boost controller (which dunt bleed metered air off) and a boost guage kit, so i`ve ordered `em and gunna fit em when they come.
Only after a bit more boost pressure to go with the increaesd fuelling, but what boost should it produce in standard form?? and how much should i safely increase it by???, dont wannna damage my engine!

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks again

It might be worth moving the barbed nut on the top of the pump round 1/4 of turn, this will make it boost at lower fuel. And as motomoto says, an uprated intercooler, as any type of fuel or boost increase can't be fully appreciated without one. Alisport one off the bay wit silicone hoses - £480!

More details dude, if you can!;)

Turn the engine over by hnd until your timing holes line up, then put the timing pin in the injector pump. Slacken off the bolts that hold the pulley onto the injector pump and turn the engine backwards (anti-clockwise from front) only a couple of degrees though. Tighten up the bolts remove the timing pin and fire her up.
