Red is actually pink and is the new fangled OAT (organic acid technology) antifreeze.
Bugger I've only just filled up the coolant with Red Anti Freeze. Now I best pop off to the shops to get myself some blue.

you can use 2 x 1/2 caps from a plumbers merchants i lost my rad one but its a 1/2 inch bsp thread same as a 15mm cap end
Update on my situation:
I had it towed to a local garage, they thawed it out and other than a host clamp everything is fine. Obviously they drained and pressure tested it, and now it's good to -40 C so that should be OK.
I definitely dodged a bullet!

Cheers for this, went to the plumbers at got 2 with o rings for £1.92 I chipped the flat bottom off the plastic one, pulled off the o ring and then hammered a ring spanner over the knackered plastic one till it was flush. The old one came off and I managed to get another 2 litres of coolant in then fitted one of the new plugs.
