isn't a big deal.
Yes it is.
It takes me a good 5 minutes and a good deal of puffing and wheezing to get down to ground level and under the Landy. Then I inevitably have left the socket/spanner/screwdriver/widget just out of reach. Then the wife or the granddaughter will call with some issue that takes precedence....
It then takes me another 5 minutes and a good deal of puffing and wheezing to get out from under the Landy and up from ground level.
I then need a cup of tea and a fortifying bun.
Get a gasket, filter and oil and drop it down to Nailsworth at the weekend and I'll do it while you sort out the buns
the 5 bearing block has strengthening ridges on it the
Metric on the 5 bearing. Take out a sump bolt. Or are the rocker cover threads m8 or 5/16 unf. (that's a bit riskier as you can have an imperial head on a metric block.
Hi chaps,
How can I identify whether my MOD rebuilt engine is 3 or 5 bearing without dismantling anything?
TIA
Get the engine number and check, or put it here and I can.
Bottom left in your photo is the strenghtening ribs/ ridges of a 5 main bearing
Aha - it seems that ECO2 is a water dispersant/oil mix, and that it was sprayed inside and out with it in November 89.....
3 bearing has a smooth sided block going to the sump.
5 bearing has ribs cast into it to strengthen it. I think it might be the same block as the 2.5, looks similar anyway
