I've bought one and just looking around on eBay etc most of the adverts say "rare 3 door"
I was just wondering just how rare?
I mean we've got a car that there were only ever 200 made so I would say that was rare but if there are like thousands and thousands of them that's not that rare.

What's car you got that they only made 200 of? I've got a Lotus Carlton and they made 900 of them and around 280 right hand drive. Bloody nitemare for spares.

I like that, looks practical/functional the tree bars look quality. I wouldn't have a bobtail myself as you loose to much boot space having to put the tank in there.
I want one of them light bars for my racer but they are a bit pricey at the mo.

Mines a 3dr. Used every day. Kids in the back. Kinda 'throw' the 2yo into his car seat as he can't climb up yet. He lovez it. Regularly 7 up when taking the olds to family do's.

Have been offered 5drs but keeping me 3!!

my wifes brother has a car thats 1 of only 4 made and is the last one known left.....now thats rare! also another thats 1 of 60 and another thats 1 of 80! 3 door disco's are definatly not rare. they are not as common as the obvious 5 door but are by no means rare

I know that ! I was wondering as a percentage how many were 3door?

Cause there were thousands upon thousands of D1's made so if its like say 10% that's a small percentage but still a lot of cars.

The 'how many left' website says there's 24 thousand tdi models on the road in total. 5 years ago it was 55 thousand and ten years ago there were 65 thousand. It doesn't detail 3 or 5 door though. It does show that the early models are disappearing pretty fast.

love my J plated 3 door diesel,
its just me,
a key,
and a diesel engine.

still in shiney factory black with the silver/grey side vynals.
yes I done the "some" bits on the floors/inner wings/body to chassis mounts/behind the headlights/bits on the bulkhead/repaired the rear crossmember/repaired the sills also.
yes it has the blight of a few corrosion bubbles coming through on the front edge of passenger door and some on the rear arches, oh its got the same next to the rear number plate, but now its solid for qite a few years to come.

Ironically, I saw its twin parked on the seafront here yesterday ;)
unusall being black plus factory vynal on it and not been fecked about with.

ya daft bugger, that was your disco's reflection in the shop window.:p:D:D

No sunroof does not mean no leaks.. Mine was leaking everywhere until i sorted it, but its still coming in at the drivers footwell. Doorseal i think.

Mines a 3 door too. Ive just stripped out all the carpets to paint the floor and found rust holes behind the plastic covers that hide the electrics in each footwell. You can get at these areas by taking the wings off too. Could be urs is leaking here too?

It could of been, but i had mine off the road for 8 months doing it up and i sorted those areas when i had the wings off. I am pretty sure its the door seal as i have sorted everywhere else. I have cut the soundproofing in the drivers footwell so its easy to remove n wring out, but when the weather improves i will be stripping it all out again n doing a hose pipe test to trace where the water is coming in.
Passenger side n boot are all ok now :)
