Just stripped my rover 3.9 v8 . On top of the pistons is stamped the letter M I've looked everywhere put can't find if there standerd or not ? Anyone know?

yes they are std ,when the engine was built at the factory piston sets and blocks are matched ,to get best from manufacture tolerances,when you buy pistons you only get the one choice of std
