have you had the ecu fault read before you guess at the maf seen plenty of people just guess some right most wrong and it is expensive if the ecu is full of faults you will never know if it is right or not!

New MAF arrived. When I took the old one off I realised I'd been trying to adjustit it with the wrong Allen key. I adjusted the old one back down to 1.25v (from 2.5v!). Now it no longer stinks of petrol, idles smooth and no longer cuts out. It's way quieter too... One thing though, it doesn't seem to have as much power as before? Is this normal? +anyone need a brand new fuelparts MAF?? Lol

my car seems to run quite rich.

i dont want to adjust the maf screw, but could you please tell me which pins i need to measure the voltage across - hopefully i will have 1.25v (or a similar value)

cheers, sam

My green one runs rich, and blue one runs a little lean. One day both might be set properly!

Ignition amplifiers know to have issues-check your not loosing spark

to set the maf correctly remove the plug and connect a ohm meter on to the outer two pins you need a resistance reading of 300ohms that equates to 1.o% co at idle it does not adjust the co though the rev range as some muppets say! as the ecu does that not the afm

cheers lads, i'll check that today

no fett i never took that plug out :D

perhaps i'll get a chance to do it this afternoon!

Snow? For me? Yeah :D

Here's that plug

It's clean, a bit sooty and a bit oily :)

I can see White on the insulator so it can't be that bad in there, the electrode is black with soot but not oil but it looks alright, and the thread is oily so obviously oily on the cylinder ceiling.

What's the diagnosis? Btw this comes from a car which is currently running just fine, albeit using a healthy amount of juice. BUT IT MIGHT BE NORMAL!!

Comments appreciated :)

The car has not been warmed up for over a week, just moving back and to at work which involves running for about a minute at a time. This will no doubt explain the wetness and smell of fuel on the plug.

Wish i had chance to take it out last weekend...

thats not bad mate, maybe a little rich but pretty good.

I would leave well alone till after the snow!!
