Don't think my alternator is charging my battery as when I put multimeter on terminals and run engine batt stays at roughly 11 volts and doesn't increase when run up.

Main brown cable goes from alternator to starter then from starter to battery pos

Any suggestions how I can prove its charging it as batt isn't going flat but I think that's because it's a good battery

Yeah, maybe try replacing the alternator!

You can get them tested/reconditioned but tbh you can get a decent alternator for 35 these days anyway!

Euro car parts, ok it was a little while ago but they were selling Lucas cheaper than their own RTX brand!!

Does anybody have any links to twin alternator on 3.9 v8 efi setup as it's something I like the idea of?
Just need to know special brackets, pulleys, belt to use etc

You can buy the bits to repair Lucas alts, and there is some good vids on you tube to show how to strip them.
handy to know if you get in mud and water alot even if you do it and keep for a spare

theres also another reason why two is not so good...i will answer why if you want..but first..

are you running two batts?
if you are why?
if you are, do they run seperate circuits? (winch/engine etc)
what is max load on alternator at moment/

Yes I will have an engine battery and a lighting / winch battery for ancillaries etc
They will run separate circuits but I wanted to look at a split charge system but don't know much about them
Don't know exact amount in amps I guess it would be normal draw of an efi system

Can anybody tell me what each connection does please?

I know big brown is to starter motor what are the rest?

Big brown is for battery via starter. Smal brown is dash battery light to provide 12v fornstarting the alternator and the white issspeedo

not speedo..tacho...but may be other way around...ie brown tacho..blue looks like to condensor (capacitor to stop whine on radio)

Thanks very much gents would explain why alternator isn't charging only big brown connected other 2 rammed and hidden down some copex trunking!
