hi there folks right i have a 90 200tdi 94 i submerged it and low and behold it just smoked and was gutless after and missfired, i stripped head of it and it has sat there ever since, i brought a trooper witch is a 3.1td but for some reason it is quite thirsty well i think it is, i have had a bit of a read on here and other sites and people are saying the trooper engine does good mpg in a landrover. but all i have found witch is not alot is to do with the 2.8 isuzu lump. just wondered if there was a way of puttin my 3.1td into my landrover and if anyone has done this conversion. any help would be appractied thank you casper

The 2.8 and 3.1 zuzu engines are to all intents and purposes are the same engine in all but capacity. They put a longer stroke crank in the 3.1 to give more torque.
I have a mate who swears by them and he has a 3.1 in series III 110 as well as two LWB Troopers. One is a 2.8 and the other a 3.1.
It is a common transplant across Africa.
He says they are no worse than any other engine and mpg depends on how you drive it and what it is used for.
As a 90 is smaller and lighter than a Trooper mpg should be better.

i use a 3.1 trooper alot at work sometimes for towing and compared to my 110 with a 200tdi in it its a piece of **** ! no power, drinks diesel, carnt tell when or if the turbos come in ! and the motors in a1 condition with low milage.

so theres my thoughts :( get another 200tdi, there cheep enough nowdays

think i am goin to it was just an idea because the trooper is sittin there u see well my daily driver while the 90 is off the road.
