I have a 110 200 tdi. it runs ok but second gear plays up. When the car is cold or the weather is very cold then its fine no problem but when the car is warm second is stuff to get in. then sometime the gates are closed and it wont let me at all.
Any clues??
Cheers

So to clarify you have this issue when its WARM?

Get some Evolution 1 from Difflock - has made a big big difference to alot of people who had selection issues.

i must have done over a thousand over the years , gears are helical for two reasons first is that there quieter ,if you hear some cars reverse they whine thats because they have straight cut gears ,second is that there is more contact area so are stronger.series 11a was last box with sliding forward gear with straight cut teeth and that was only 1st

right, why is it only reverse that it straight cut? are they cheaper to make or something? do you happen to have any pics of these plungers? just so i kno what im looking for when i get it all apart.
cheers

because reverse gear on some boxes like lt77 use a sliding gear to join lay shft and main shaft together ,you couldnt easily slide helical gear into other helical gears ,when you get tunnel off and soud proofing all will become clear
