ok, i know i am probably going to get 3000 people saying "just buy springs" but currently the sls provides me with a nice ride and unless it goes wrong (which it invariably will after this post) i am not gonna fix something that aint broke..

my question is

do i need extended brake lines, i al guessing the answer will be yes for this one

and also would anyone recommend a reasonably priced lift kit that retains the SLS bags and simply lifts my truck 2 inches or so to allow me to fit moderately larger tyres.

Before you start lifting your Disco just to get bigger tyres on it or that bloke down the pub says it's the thing to do, take a good look at this:-

Lifting a Disco 2 that's on air can be done with blocks but it will also require to have the ride height recalibrated or fitting two plates for extending the ride height sensors since the SLABS will see the increased height between the axle and the body and deflate the springs to bring it back into spec.

There is the issue of the brake lines, but the air suspension is designed to raise up to 50 mm in its stock arrangement, but there might be a case that with a 2 inch lift, you could raise the suspension to an additional 2 inches. There might also be an issue with unequal travel on the shock absorbers.

yeah i have no intentions of running 42inch stupid tyres with a stupid lift, but an increase slightly (265/75/R16) would be reasonable in my mind to achieve what i want, looks and functionality

the shocks will likely be extended or replaced to accommodate the additional lift (spacer blocks similar to the ones available for a suzuki vitara) on the rear, and on the front.

the kits i have seen involve spacer blocks for the rear bags (axle end) and a small relocation of the sensor arm on each side.

this is a kit i found in the US and comes with recommendation from heathy at disco2 parts on his side.

i was wondering whether there was a UK kit available

with respect to clearance issues front and back and the angles of attack being shocking, my intention at some point (funds permitting) is to fit HD bumpers and sort the rear ground anchor (read the towbar) out.

Don't think you need a lift to run 265s.

no but i would like the additional clearance under the chassis front and back, a couple of our lanes are... dicey, and also i would be running the occasional mild pay and play day.

used to live in Manea and then huntingdon, not many hills there to climb over :D

Before I lived in March, I lived outside Hayle in Cornwall, where the lanes are very hilly. An unlifted landrover can deal.

I sometimes go to Manea, to the car boot, not to buy tat, but to get smoked deer meat from a stall there.

So which kit are you going to fit?

I was looking at spacers under the rear bags, OME 2777 springs at the front, OME60024 shocks at the front and OME60025 shocks at the back. Not sure if the rear shocks I mentioned are compatible with the bags and spacers.
